Attraction Marketing vs. Buying Biz Opp Leads
Everyone who is in a home based business desires to have more people to prospect with their business. In fact there is an entire industry built around this. From home business leads to opportunity seeker leads to double opt in leads to mlm leads and network marketing leads, etc… There are infinite number of choices when it comes to purchasing leads.
Is buying leads truly effective though?
Yes and no. If a person has a significant monthly budget to purchase leads and they contact these leads on a regular basis through an ongoing marketing process of calling, emailing, direct mail, etc. they can be successful with this process. The hiccup comes when they tell the new person they just sponsored that in order to be successful, they have to purchase all of the same resources. An effective lead campaign with all of the proper tools to go along with it can cost $500-$5000 a month. I’m not joking. The return on investment can be delayed until 3-6 months down the line as your income grows. Many who join our industry and take this route for a few months until they have no money left or max out their credit cards. Then they have to quit and lose their entire investment. This stinks!
Another issue in the entire lead purchasing arena is how many times one biz opp lead is sold. Here’s how it works. There is a company that generates the leads. This company then sells this new lead to a lead broker. This lead broker then turns around and sells this lead to several lead providers. After each of the lead providers has sold this lead between 7-8 times, they will then sell these leads in bulk to other broker and lead providers of bulk leads. Then the process is repeated again. So, how many times can one lead be sold?
I tested this process for myself. I saw an ad on TV one time that was advertising a home based business. I opted in at the website that was shown. Within the next week or two I was contacted by around 8 people from different work at home business opportunities. These 8 people paid anywhere from $5-$15 for my information. That was just the beginning. For the next 6 months I was emailed or called over 150 times. I used a specific email address so I could track it. Since that original six months, my email address has probably been sold another 200-500 times, resulting in 1000’s of contacts. No joke.
So, if purchasing leads can result in this many issues, what should a person who has a limited budget do?
My suggestion is to learn how to generate your own free mlm leads and free network marketing leads. Notice I didn’t say to generate your own biz opp leads. I generally don’t market to the new person looking for a home based business. They are usually just poking around and testing things. I want people who are opportunity buyers. Those who have already raised their hand at some point to say they wanted to be a part of this industry.
Why attract mlm and network marketing leads?
1. A person already in the industry has decided they want to make extra income online. Many times they haven’t found the right home business mentor or coach to teach them. They need an effective sponsor who will teach them marketing skills.
2. A person who is already in the mlm or network marketing industry understands that in order to build a business they will have to treat it like a business. There is usually less of a learning curve with the experienced home business person. They have either failed at several businesses and don’t know why or they had some issue with their current company and are looking for a new one. Also, and you can mark my words on this. Most people who are currently in an mlm or network marketing company will be looking for a new one in 60-90 days. Since a person joins a home business every 8 seconds, this is a huge amount of people to build a relationship with through attraction marketing tools.
3. A person who is already in the industry usually has a list of contacts from their previous marketing efforts or through knowing others in the industry too. Do you want to see the growth of your current business go faster? Attract a decent marketer who will bring 35-50 people with him or her when they join your business. This is not difficult either. I’ve done this in 3 mlm companies and seen great residual checks from this technique.
So, the answer in my mind is to generate your own mlm or network marketing leads. These techniques are taught by all the “gurus” in the industry such as:
