MLM Leadership – A Person of Influence – Lesson 3

 

The leadership lessons taught in this writing are a result of the principles and words from John Maxwell’s – Becoming a Person of Influence.  Consider purchasing this book to gain a fuller understanding of this subject.

 

In our last lesson we took a look at the first 2 stages of influence that John Maxwell describes.  These stages were Modeling and Motivating.  This is the beginning stages of building an effective mlm or network marketing business.  Modeling and Motivating others is a must as people enter your social marketing, attraction marketing and web 2.0 funnel.

 

The next 2 stages are Mentoring and Multiplying.

 

Let’s start with stage 3 - Mentoring.

 

After you’ve left a good impression on someone through modeling and you’ve motivated them to be a part of your business, you must take the role of a mentor.  This means you work closely with this person and teach them step by step how to become successful.  The truth about this industry is that most fail to ever truly mentor those they work with.  Why?  First, they have not learned to effectively lead themselves.  In other words, how can a person influence another in a mentor relationship when they have not acheived success in their own life.  You can’t give what you do not have yourself.

 

In order to mentor another, you must learn to be disciplined in your own life.  Do you want to teach others how to successfully build their business with the latest in attraction marketing, social marketing and web 2.0?  If so, you must have applied these techniques to your own business.  You should have a web of content online so that others find you and contact you through those means.  You should be attracting leaders and seeing them join you in business before you can teach someone else how to do the same.

 

If you want to be a mentor, you must have a mentor yourself.  If you want to teach others to succeed, you must learn how to succeed yourself.

 

Stage 4 - Multiply

 

This is the exciting stage that is the major payoff if you have effectively modeled, motivated and mentored others.  Your influence no longer stops with those your personally know, but extends to those you lead and those they lead and on and on.  This is one of the best things about an mlm or network marketing business.  If you become an effective leader and influencer of others, you will multiply your success through other leaders and they will multiply through other leaders, etc…  Before long, you will have developed a growing organization that pays you a handsome residual income.

 

The ability to multiply all starts with modeling.  In my opinon, the best way to model today is through the use of the internet and more specifically by applying proven techniques through attraction marketing, social marketing and web 2.0.
