Why this top recruiter stops promoting Success University with
announcement of it's merger with World Ventures
From the
desk of Jeremy Henderson:
Why I will stop actively
promoting Success University...
Back in August of 2008, I joined Jason Cardamone and
the SU Copy Cat team in an effort to build an online income. Notice
that I said ONLINE. I love the idea of building an income via the
internet and comfort of my home. I also love
the personal development industry. Over the last several years I've
purchased personal development courses
and books from industry leaders like Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Robert
Kiyosaki and Chris Widener. I see the value of
growing as a person and business owner through increased knowledge and
action. Personal development is a necessary tool for someone to
achieve their goals and dreams.
What does this have to do with my decision to stop promoting?
On May 1, 2009 there will be an announcement of a
merger or acquisition of Success University (SU) by World Ventures (WV).
WV is a travel company based out of Plano, Texas. Here is what they
say about themselves from their website:
"WorldVentures is an online travel company
and host agency for home-based travel agents."
http://www.worldventures.com
They appear to have a club where you can receive highly discounted travel
rates and many, many other perks for being a member. In fact I've
considered joining this several times just for the sake of the product,
it's that good.
WV is not a personal
development product. It's a travel company. Unfortunately, the
network marketing / mlm travel industry has had numerous companies pop up
in the last 5-10 years. Companies like YTB, Your Travel Business,
Coastal Vacations, Traverus are a few of the big players and there are
many, many more. I have no problem with travel mlm's, but I also
have no desire to promote them as a business opportunity.
The decision of Matt Morris to team with this company seems to be one with
some history behind it. Apparently the owner of World Ventures and
Matt Morris were in a previous mlm company together. I choose not to
speculate on which one nor the nature of that relationship, only to show
that their is some prior context to what's happening currently.
I'll say upfront that I 100% admire Matt Morris, his work ethic, his
commitment to personal development and the overall mission and goal of SU.
Matt is the real deal and a great guy as far as I can tell. I have
no personal issue with him or with this decision, other than it's not a
fit for the business model I choose to promote.
Here are the main reasons that I will no longer
actively promote Success University and/or World Ventures as a business
opportunity:
1. I believe it's a stretch to meld a personal development company with a
travel company. I'm not sure that these industries belong with one
another under the umbrella of a travel company.
2. The $2 free trial is being done away with. This is a huge blow to
those who choose to promote their business online. A low cost of
entry is a must for those building an online business. This gives us
time to build a relationship with the new member and help them decide if
the business is a fit. Many would never join with an upfront cost of
$150 or $300. They need time to take a look under the hood.
3. The compensation plan changes do not benefit the internet marketer.
I'm not going to get into a lengthy discussion on the changes, other than
to say it will be more difficult for the average person to build a solid
residual income.
So, that's it for now. If you would like to comment on this story, I
encourage you to go to my
